Draper Topspin® Coming to Greenbuild

(Spiceland, Ind.) – The amount of solar radiation on skylight glazing is much higher than that on vertical glazing. At Greenbuild 2015 Draper Inc is showing solution designed to take the heat off skylight openings.

Draper’s retractable Topspin® system is a series of fabric panels connected to spring rollers designed to dramatically reduce heat gain, provide a more comfortable environment inside the building, and reduce the air conditioning loads and running costs. It is particularly effective when combined with an automatic control system.

The versatile Topspin can be manufactured to more than 10 feet wide and can have draws in excess of 40 feet. It can be installed on horizontal, vertical or sloped glazing and can also shade barrel vaulted skylights. The system can be installed on the exterior or interior, and features a wide range of fabrics to be deployed and retracted as required.

The Topspin provides very effective light and glare control, and, if installed on the exterior, will significantly reduce the solar gains entering the building through the glazing. Topspin’s design means that it is wind resistant and, even when covering large areas, can be used in wind speeds of up to 38 mph.
